MoWINs recognizes two with grant partnership award
This year we honored two recipients with the MoWINs Partnership Award–Gregg Garland, District Manager of Walgreens and Sonoco Plastics. The MoWINs Partnership Award recognizes organizations and individuals who have gone above and beyond to partner with Missouri’s community colleges through MoWINs initiatives.
Gregg Garland, District Manager Walgreens
Gregg has played an instrumental role in the development of the Pharmacy Technician Certificate Program offered at Mineral Area College through the MoSTEMWINs program. The relationship between the college and Walgreens began when Gregg was a store manager at the 24 hour Walgreens in Farmington. He and the managing pharmacist at the time met with college staff to arrange clinical rotations for students participating in the Pharmacy Technician program. He has also helped to provide the students with mock interviews. Now in his position as District Manager he has helped the college expand its partnership with Walgreens throughout the South-East Missouri area.
Sonoco Plastics has been an active partner in both the MoManufacturingWINs and MoSTEMWINs grant initiatives at North Central Missouri College. Most recently, the company invited North Central into their facility to teach a series of courses that helped a group of their employees obtain industry-recognized credentials. Some of these individuals never even thought college was possible, but now with just a few more classes, they have the opportunity to earn a college certificate. Together, Sonoco Plastics and North Central Missouri college have truly bettered the lives and prospects of these individuals.
